Sweet Honey

A good friend emailed me about honey and it is so good that I just have to share it here with you all. Here goes: Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some call turning to sugar. In reality honey is always honey. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing". When this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then as good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. To do so will kill the enzymes in the honey. Cinnamon and Honey Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around. Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban', (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can...

Papaya Goodness for Health and Fighting Cancer

Papaya was the only studied food found to halt breast cancer. Scientists studied 14 plant foods commonly consumed in Mexico to determine their ability to halt breast cancer cell growth. These included avocado, black sapote, fuava, mango, prickly pear cactus (nopal), pineapple, grapes, tomato, and papaya. They also evaluated beta-carotene, total plant phenolics, and gallic acid contents and antioxidant capacity. They found that only papaya had a significant effect on stopping breast cancer cell growth. (International Journal of Food Science and Nutrition, May). Papaya is a store-house of cancer fighting lycopene. The intense orangey-pink color of papaya means it is chock full of cancer fighting carotenoids. Not only beta carotene, but lycopene is found in abundance. The construction of lycopene makes it highly reactive toward oxygen and free radicals. Scientists at the University of Illinois think this anti-oxidant activity contributes to its effectiveness as a cancer fighting ag...

Water Wise

Use water wisely and save money as well. Every drop you save counts :) These top tips are easy to practice! 1. Run your dishwasher or washing machine only when it is full. 2. Wash your vegetables and fruits in a bowl of water instead of under running tap. The bowl of water may also be used to water your houseplants after. 3. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth, washing your face, doing the dishes, etc to prevent wastage of water unnecessary. 4. Avoid running your tap at full blast; only turn on enough to minimize the flow of water to complete the tasks at hand. 5. Don't wash your car daily....and when you do wash your car, use a bucket instead of running hose. 6. Check for water leakage from your taps. 7. Water your lawn and garden in the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler to minimize evaporation. Better yet, use recycle water from washing for watering your plants. 8. Shorten your shower to under 5 minutes. 9. Use one glass for your drinking water ...

Water Supply in Selangor

We are told we live in a dying world and that we need to be environmental friendly so that we can sustain this world for our future generation. But how many of us in the billions of population take note of this? It is a sad case indeed.  In Malaysia, first of all I like to address the issue of water running out, especially in the state of Selangor (purportedly the water supply may only last between 2014 and 2019).  The federal government is pushing for a new water plant in another state to transport water to Selangor, but this would be costing us taxpayers much much ringgits. I believe a conserve water policy would be more efficient. The public needs to be educated in how to conserve water in our daily usage. How many of us are guilty of doing our laundry in a half load drum, turning the tap full blast and leaving it on just to brush our teeth, wash our hands or dishes, showering and taking a bath for longer than necessary, washing the car, driveways?.....and the list goes on...
